Since our launch in 1997 we have placed great emphasis in working with the latest printers available in the market to bring you more options, quality and shorter lead times.

HP Indigo 5000's

We now have 3 Indigo 5000 machines enabling us to further extend our abilities and finishes.

What can these machines do that the Ultrastreams couldn’t? From the way they feed paper to the way it stores ink to the way they combine very high print speeds with very low production runs, these machines have been fine-tuned to be the best available.

They’re designed to cope with tomorrow’s applications such as collateral-on-demand, personalised direct mail and versioned documents, whilst producing offset digital full colour print of the highest quality. Soon your only print problem will be how to reallocate the under-spend rather than worrying about missed deadlines and quality control!

Xeikon 5000

The Xeikon's unique advantage is it's ability to print up to 470mm wide by any length, making it ideal for posters up to A2 and landscape brochures, folders, etc.

“The ability of the 5000 to work with materials up to 350gsm in sizes of 500mm wide by virtually unlimited length will allow us to explore new markets. Folders, for example, are something that our customers are always asking us about; and in the packaging sector – where we see the potential for production of test marketing runs of packaging materials.”

The 40 strong team at 1st Byte operate a 24-hour, 6-day shift system and focus strongly on short-run colour print production for a London client base. "We see plenty of future potential for variable data work, but currently this only makes up a very small percentage of our customers’ requirements," said Lawrence Dalton. “The most important benefits we provide for our customers are short-run, high-quality colour print, which is finished to a high standard, and delivered back to them very quickly.” To aid fast-turnaround, the company handles the entire production process in-house, including a wide range of finishing operations, such as folding, laminating, stitching, wire-o-binding and drilling.

The Xeikon 5000 provides for significantly improved print quality. The 5000 also comes integrated with a new digital front-end – Swift. As its name suggests, Swift processes PostScript, JDF, PPML, and PPML/VDX files at high speed. The product has also been designed to support JDF-based job tickets.

The Xeikon 5000 can print at speeds of up to 7,800 full-colour duplexed pages per hour (130 A4 pages per minute). It is envisaged that the 5000 will handle monthly volumes of up to 3 million A4 full-colour pages.

HP Indigo 5500

A continued investment in the latest technology is expressed through the arrival of the latest HP hi tech plotter enabling us to further extend our abilities and finishes. These machines have enhancements that allow for up to seven-colour photo imaging, as well as the ability to change individual inks on the fly.

With no requirement for film or plates, low set up costs and the ability to change the entire content of each page, the HP 5500 also provides us with fast and efficient printing operations and even has special and spot colour capabilities.
