Where it all began...

Ist Byte was started on Jan 1st 1997. Created by Lawrence Dalton and his partners Tony Anderson and Stuart Williams all whom had previously worked in the Repro & typesetting industry. The aim was to offer the fastest, short-run print service, utilising the recently introduced Indigo Digital print technology.

The 1st year was the hardest.. getting our new technology to work consistently whilst trying to convince print buyers that customers did actually only need 200 copies not 5,000! However by the following year we started to fly, so much that by the end of that year we had trebled our capacity with 2 more Indigos including printing up to 7 colours, started our own in-house finishing company and had bought our own 4,000 sq.ft. building in Clerkenwell.

Since then we have kept on growing and in 2000 replaced all our "old" Indigos with the latest Ultrastreams which overcame the last hurdle in the thorny issue of Digital v Litho quality. And decided that we were justified in proclaiming ourselves "Europe's leading Digital Printers" Today, with over 30 staff we have far surpassed any of our original goals and are constantly striving to get the message of Digital Print to the 4 corners…
